Friends, we need you now.

We NEED 200 more people to pre-order a set of our new 2019 books (theme: Discovery!) and support us in building a just, loving, inclusive future for all humans. We need queer and trans kids to feel affirmed, loved, and valid. We need the cis and straight kids who will experience these books to see and enjoy celebratory images and stories of our families so they don’t grow up to do violence against those queer and trans kids. We need all the kids who get bullied and harassed for being “different” to see themselves in the kind and brilliant light of our authors and illustrators, beautiful and perfect. We need to turn the grief of invisibility into the love of celebration. The time is now. We can't make the books this world needs without you. We have ONE WEEK to find these customers or the books don’t get made.

I know you know these people. They're our straight allies, our affirming medical providers, our friends from college, our siblings-in-law, the parents of the children we're wild aunties and sparkly uncles to. Please, join us now. Please take a moment and email five friends: tell them about us. Tell them how your kids, siblings, students, grandkids feel when they read our books. Tell them what it would mean to YOU to live in a world where children could grow up feeling seen, and loved, and free.

Hi! We're making more books!
almost 6 years ago – Sat, Dec 08, 2018 at 08:53:20 AM

Greetings, Flamingo lovers!

We're making a new set of six beautiful, super-fun kids books for your reading enjoyment! The theme for 2019 is Discovery!, and we are planning books about space and sports and animals and flowers, with poetry and watercolors and all kinds of brilliant new learning moments including kids with divorced parents, gay siblings, kids managing their own wellness, and a beautiful new trans boy book. Click through to the new Kickstarter to read all about them.

We'd love for you to join us in making these books available to young readers! Please consider pre-ordering the new set and/or sending this email along to people you know (parents, grandparents, uncles, aunties, educators, librarians!) who would be interested in having them.

Thanks for all your support in the past. We appreciate you.

love and flamingos,

Bear

ps - want to make sure these books happen, but don't need any yourself? Friend, we have a LONG list of educators, schools, and libraries that would love a donation. You can pre-order today and when the survey comes in the summer just indicate that you'd like your books to be donated - super easy and incredibly helpful in spreading love, validation and celebration far and wide.

About half of our backer packages went to the post office today! Thank you so, so much for your love and patience - we are glad to finally be shipping your rewards. Feel free to post your unboxing/reading photos on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter (and tag us, would you?)

Two other notes of note:

1) if you selected the Toronto pick up special, you have until Sunday to pick up your books at Glad Day Bookshop, 499 Church St. in Toronto. They are eager to see you there!

2) 2015 book sets, 2017 book sets, our Spanish book, and our French book are now all available for sale on the website www.flamingorampant.com. Where in the process of making the listing some more robust, but we've taken the first step and gotten them up there.

Thanks for being awesome. We really really hope you like what we made.

love and flamingos, Bear and the entire Flamingo team
